Upheaval - Seasonal Transitions

Dear Bestie,
This Libra season has really rocked my shit. It's been a tough year to be a Scorpio on the astrological front, and last week's Aries Supermoon really knocked me down. I'm nearing the end of my first go through of The Artist's Way, which has been amazing. That being said, it's a lot of introspective work, alchemy, shadow work, healing — whatever name you so choose. And it's led to a lot of crying, a lot of grieving, and mourning. But letting those creative blocks flow openly has been amazing, amongst the pain. The past week has been recognizing old trappings and correcting slowly but surely. Mostly feelings of self-doubt and trying to find a balance amongst the countless pursuits that permeate in the psyche of a Gemini Rising.. SO! Thank you for your patience as I process and get back to writing these letters. It's always so fun and I missed it. But hey, it's the time time of the year when things slow down. The winter rains, snow, and cold remind us that it's not just ok to rest, but it's necessary, so we can refill our aquifers. I love that imagery: to refill our aquifers. I stole it from 0ne of my kumu (teachers).
Later today I'll be teaching how to make eyelash yarn lei at Nalu Kava in NE Portland from 6PM - 8PM! I'm really excited to be doing more classes in the community and make them financially accessible. I was actually teaching a paper craft at the Woodlawn Farmers Market the other week and I'm always amazed by how many adults think they're above coloring. That they're somehow too cool to color. Predestined to awkwardly hover over their child or grandchild, monitoring the accuracy and efficiency of their chicken scratch with the focus of a newly promoted fast food shift supervisor. Like somehow picking up a crayon or colored pencil is below you, or something that you put behind you, like binge drinking in your 20s. Anyway, this is one of my hot-takes-that-I-think-is-luke-warm. Anyone can create, and people of all ages need to let themselves create freely, without worry of it being good, bad, technical, or whatever. A lot of my healing lately has been allowing myself to feel and create freely and openly. Sometimes art is serious, sometimes it is silly, sometimes it is pragmatic, sometimes it is poetic. It is all art. To create is to honor your moolelo (story). Honor it. Claim it. Cherish it.

TONIGHT 10/13/2025: Straw Lei Workshop, learn how to make a one-straw and two-straw lei while learning the history of this practice from Hawai'i. Please note, these are yarn lei and not flower lei. These lei are so soft and make amazing gifts or adornments for your loved ones, family, and yourself! I will be hosting this workshop on Monday, October 13, 2025 from 6-8pm at Nalu Kava Lounge and Teahouse. Please stop by, grab some awa or another wellness drink, and craft with us! This class will be offered for $10-$40 / person and materials will be provided.
WEDNESDAY: Foundational Astrology, an introduction to the world of astrology through the 12 signs, personal planets, and the 12 houses will be taking place at Nalu Kava Lounge and Teahouse this Wednesday, October 15, 2025 from 6-8:30pm! This workshop will be sliding scale $25 - $100 / person and tea, light snacks, and digital resources will be provided.

Mars & Mercury in Scorpio
Things are getting DEEP & heated ~

Every year we all get to have our Mercury return, but mine started last week! Yay! Because I will admit, folx. I'm feeling the crashout energy of the eclipses transitioning into an Aries supermoon last week. I am feeling the desperate attempts of the Sun in Libra trying to hold balance while we're living in a chaotic period of retrogrades, harsh aspects, and now.. Mars! Traditionally, Scorpio is ruled by Mars — associated with war / conflict, drive, passion, and outward activity as a whole. This means that Mars is literally at home in Scorpio, so don't be surprised if you feel more decisive and bold in your decision making lately — or the aspects of life that Mars in Scorpio is activating in your chart. For example, I am a Gemini rising, so my 6th house is ruled by Scorpio (Gemini is 1st, Cancer 2nd, Leo 3rd, etc). I am quite literally starting to implement a new daily routine to help me balance out all of my passions and pursuits, TODAY! Which is helpful and a long time coming, considering that I am a Virgo Mars in the 6th house. I love to make all my intricate plans and have my contingencies figured out — or I could just do the thing, I guess. Yeah, I gotta do the thing.
To finish off the thought of Mars in Scorpio, our big bad angry red guy will be there until November 4th, sharing some overlap with Scorpio season itself. The end of this month is going to be intense with all of these Scorpio transits, especially Lillith which is in Scorpio until December 20, 2025. And I haven't even talked about this grand water trine that we're going to have on October 24 just after the Sun moves into Scorpio — we'll get to that next week!
Mercury entered Scorpio last week on October 6! If you haven't already felt the heaviness of conversation come in, be mindful that revelations and deeper conversational topics aren't uncommon under this transit. Scorpio likes to push our limits and explore the darker sides of our humanity, especially in relation to others. Personally, I am excited to redefine how Power shows up in my life — a very Scorpio topic — and set boundaries with my Self for how I plan to show up in the many roles that I have the honor of holding. One of those boundaries is staying on top of these letters!
