Dear Bestie,

We're back, and on a new platform! Long story, short, my laptop broke and is still being fixed as we speak. Thankfully, I finally remembered the password and since this is a new adventure, I'm experimenting with the platform until we find a comfy and cozy home for these letters. This time, we're going to try to be weekly for real <3

Friend, I will admit that I am going through it. This summer has felt like Tower after Tower, upheaval and hulihia (being turned upside down) everywhere I look. But, the growth and radical acceptance of my Self in these vulnerable moments have changed me immensely. I'm honoring and embracing my strength and resilience as an educator, my radical vulnerability in the face of a world full of disconnection, and I'm taking pride in my art and putting myself out there. That first step being: this letter to you.

My past has been marked with many setbacks and I have created content before to be berated by those online. I loved making videos, vlogs, and lets plays back in elementary and middle school, but my mental health was suffering and the realities of what people say when separated by a screen made things worse. During and after college, I worked in social media marketing and loved the content creation and community connection side of things. However, selling an expensive education without being able to warn those students about the harsher realities of privileged historically white institutions created another block for me in this realm.

But, today, I feel more firm and solid in my Self than I have ever felt. I am grateful to embark on this journey: to create, to live, to be — plus, I get to share this adventure with you!

Mahalo, salamat, thank you! For being you, for taking the time to read this letter, and joining me on my journey to Embody Gabayan (support). My Planoly for tarot and astrology readings should be live by tomorrow, I'm planning to start TikTok and Instagram Lives this week, and I'll be teaching a few more lei making and astrology classes around Portland towards the end of this month! Wow. So exciting. I hope to see your lovely self at one of these events and look forward to sharing space with you soon.

E Mālama Pono,

Kawika

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces

◯ ☽ ◑ ● ◐ ❨ ◯

Welina mai! Welcome! It's officially eclipse, season, folx! All that work we've been putting in these past six months, all of the manifestations and wishes that we've sent out into the universe, it all starts boomeranging back, now. Today's full moon lunar eclipse in Pisces and the solar eclipse with the new moon in Virgo on September 22 mark the beginning of our manifestations becoming reality. As the warmer, more masculine months transition to the feminine, colder months, the universe is asking us to receive our blessings, to be open to the fruits of our labor. So please, take time to rest today, create, nap, lounge, rot, whatever you need. Because whatever is coming, is coming in fierce!

Part of that is due to the North Node in Pisces and this lunar eclipse in Pisces being conjunct. Meaning, they're hanging out right next to each other in the sky. Or, that there is a spotlight from the stars on you, encouraging you to step out and embrace your uniqueness, your emotionality, and sometimes the fact that life is frivolous and fleeting. Pisces is about being able to flow with the immense wisdom that the final sign in the zodiac has gathered. This conjunction for me has been a reminder to take care of your spiritual wellness, even if that just means surrendering and having faith in the universe, love, whatever source fills your cup spiritually and emotionally. Pisces is a water sign, and a mutable one at that, so embrace what support you need and be careful around folx with all this full moon lunar eclipse energy. Full moons make people feral, and this eclipse in Pisces means that a lot of people are going to be going with the flow of emotion, feral or otherwise.

On another note, that means the South Node is in Virgo and it's Virgo season as well. Virgos, you either love them or hate them, unless you're me, then you're conflicted — but I'm a Gemini rising. Virgos can fall into perfectionism and the neuroticism of striving for perfection constantly can't be understated. I have a Virgo mars, so I get it. That's why it takes so long for me to actually do certain tasks, because I need ideas to be meticulously planned and consider at least 3 different contingencies. This celestial event is in direct opposition to these Virgo transits, reminding us that as much as we may feel the need to have a meticulously planned itinerary, going with the flow and trusting that your ancestors, the elements, and your guides will support you along the way can be the answer as well.

Mahalo piha, a fully hearted thank you for taking the time to read my rambles about this full moon eclipse in pisces, Bestie!
